The Short, Vol.5

Baby’s first drive thru car wash. Mesmerized. Lauren’s most recent stool sample still showed an elevated level of calprotectin, which points to inflammation in her intestines. I stopped eating dairy a month and a half ago, and now I’ve added soy and strawberries to the list. Brian is pleased, as I’ve started cooking again. It seems that even I cannot survive on barbecue flavored potato chips alone. One of Brian’s best qualities as a father is his willingness to taste whatever Lauren eats. This includes breastmilk (okay), Alimentum (horrible, truly horrible), medications (some sweet, some sour) and Lauren’s feet (sweaty). We […]

The Short, Vol. 4

Lauren took her four month vaccines like a champ and she’s tipping the scales at 10 pounds, 12 ounces. #girlpower. Also, that exam table paper has the perfect amount of crinkle, making it irresistible to babies. I got my first library card in fifteen years. Ten minutes after we arrived, I heard the telltale squirt of baby poop, and we left shortly after. I’m excited to teach Lauren how to use the library, and Brian can’t wait to teach her how to snowboard. They say opposites attract… I cooked thee most perfect bacon in the world (note: I like it extra […]

The Short, Vol. 3

Breakfast with my best girl and her crazy eyes. Brian, Lauren and I started Mother’s Day off right with a low-key breakfast at Corner Bakery. Brian got me the new Ergobaby ADAPT (no infant insert required!) and an extra side of bacon(!!!). We ended the day with a trip to Costco, which was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday… must not be a popular Mother’s Day destination. Speaking of mothers, one of the girls from our church has been organizing mommy meetups, and they are like food for my soul. We’re all first time moms with babies born within a few months of each other, and […]

The Short, Vol. 2

Check out the head on this kid! The girls from our life group hosted a baby shower for Lauren, and they generously gifted us with ten sessions of mommy and me yoga. You know what that means – tiny baby yoga pants! But the greatest gift of all… was no baby shower games. I usually leave Lauren on her playmat just outside the (open) bathroom door while I get ready in the morning. She rolled over from back to belly for the first time on Wednesday, and she also likes to scoot around on her back. I love finding her in a […]

The Short, Vol. 1

This is not a fashion blog. Or a hair blog. Or a makeup blog. Hey. Hi. I started a blog. This is it. I’ve blogged on and off since college (LiveJournal!), but it’s been a few years. And by a few, I mean eight. I’m planning to try this slow cooker Asian short rib stew. Blogging is good motivation for doing stuff you wouldn’t normally do (e.g., cooking, leaving the house). Or maybe that’s just me. We have a houseguest, our friends’ Jack Russell. Crazy as she is, I miss having a small dog around the house, and I think George likes having […]
